It’s worth noting that the second season of the romantic comedy-drama series has received a brilliant reception by critics and viewers. Therefore, we expected that The CW is about to renew “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” for the next season. However, on the other hand, the series has lost many viewers. It was mainly due to a new time slot, taking into account that The CW has moved the series to Friday nights. Let’s take a look at some figures to find out why The CW decided to renew the show.
Currently, according to IMDB, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” has a score of 7.6 out of 10 based on approx. 6,000 user votes, 40 reviews from viewers and eight reviews from critics. At the same time, according to Rotten Tomatoes, the current season of the comedy-drama series has an average score of 9/10 (100% rating). The viewers have rated the current season of the comedy series at 4.1/5 with a 78% approval rating. Meanwhile, according to Metacritic, the second season of the series has a score of 86/100 based on eight reviews from critics, whereas the viewers have rated the current season of “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” at 7.6/10 based on 41 user ratings. We consider these figures very favorable.
The premiere episode of the second season has drawn 0.539 million viewers (-40.04% compared to last season’s premiere) with a 0.20 demo rating (-25.93%) among adults (18-49). For comparisons, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” Season 1 on The CW averaged a 0.30 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 0.870 million total viewers. These figures don’t seem to us favorable, but they remain appropriate for the decision of renewal.
“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” focuses on the story of Rebecca Bunch. She is a well-educated Jewish young woman residing in an upscale apartment in Manhattan. She also gained a partnership at a prestigious law firm. But now Rebecca is ready to lose it all, pursuing true love and happiness in a Los Angeles suburb. Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna serve the show’s creators and executive producers.
