“Vinyl” is a musical drama TV series, which is preparing to debut on Valentine’s Day with a two-hour pilot, on HBO. The drama series set in 1970s New York depicts the story of a music mogul, who is desperately attempting to rescue his music empire. It’s worth mentioning that the TV series is created by Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger, who also serve as executive producers of a new HBO drama.
The musical drama series has received mainly favorable reviews from critics. According to Metacritic, the drama series has a score of 71 out of 100, based on 31 reviews from critics. Meanwhile, according to Rotten Tomatoes, the musical drama has an average score of 7.4 out of 10, and a 79% approval rating (at the moment), based on 38 reviews from critics.

Set in ’70s, an epoch when the music industry was going through a new wave, the storyline of the drama series revolves around Richie Finestra (Bobby Cannavale), a record label president, who is forced to surrender to the influence of time in order to save his music empire. When rock-and-roll receded into the background, a new wave of glam-rock and hip-hop has flooded the industry of the sex- and drug-addled music business. In order to adapt to the new reality, Richie is forced to find the next big star.
