‘Scream’ Season 3 Confirmed by MTV
“Scream” Season 2 came to an end on August 16, 2016, and its finale has garnered 0.341 million viewers. Undoubtedly, millions of fans strive to find out whether or not “Scream” will return for Season 3 on MTV, and if this happens, when will its release date? Fortunately, on October 14, 2016, it was announced that MTV has picked up “Scream” for a next season. According to the official announcement, “Scream” Season 3 premiere is slated for 2017.
There has been no official announcement regarding a specific release date, but those who can’t wait until 2017, will get a fix on Tuesday, October 18 at 9|8c when the network airs a Halloween special. In it, Lakewood’s most unlucky teens travel to a remote island where — guess what? — a murder spree begins all over again. In addition, as shown in the recently released trailer (watch the trailer below), the special will plant seeds (and some jawdropping mysteries) for Season 3.
Currently, according to IMDB, “Scream” has a score of 7.3 out of 10 based on approx. 20,500 user votes, 79 reviews from viewers, and 23 reviews from critics. At the same time, according to Rotten Tomatoes, the second season of the horror series has an average score of 4.3 out of 5 and a 87% approval rating based on about 200 user votes. Meanwhile, according to Metacritic, the current season of “Scream” has a score of 7.9 out of 10 based on 43 user ratings.
The premiere of Season 2 has drawn 0.402 million viewers (-60.82% compared to the previous season’s debut) with a 0.22 demo rating (-51.11%) among adults (18-49). For comparisons, “Scream” Season 1 averaged a 0.34 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 0.75 million viewers.
“Just in time for Halloween, MTV unleashes a horrifying new 2-hour special that picks up eight months after Kieran’s (Amadeus Serafini) arrest. Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) is struggling to focus on her future and who she really is after everything that has happened,” according to MTV.
Season 3 Release Date
“Scream” Season 2 kicked off on May 30, 2016, and its debut drew 0.402 million viewers, as well as has been praised by critics and viewers.
