Frankly, the decision on renewal was quite predictable, taking into account the fact that the first season of the black comedy has received a quite favorable reception by critics and viewers, as well as has illustrated very stable television ratings. AMC is yet to announce the viewership of the final episode, so we’ll publish these data later.
It’s also worth noting that AMC made a decision to extend the second series of “Preacher” for three additional episodes, and, therefore, “Preacher” Season 2 will consist of 13 episodes instead of a 10-episode first season.
Inspired by an eponymous comic book series by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon, “Preacher” reveals the story of Jesse Custer, a preacher in the small Texas town of Annville, who bears a supernatural entity inside him, in his attempts to find God. However, as turned out at the end of Season 1, he learns that “God is missing…” The TV series is created by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Sam Catlin, who also serve as executive producers.
