‘Faking It’ Cancelled at MTV — No Season 4
“Faking It” Season 3 kicked off on March 15, 2016, and its premiere drew 0.28 million viewers. Meanwhile, currently it isn’t clear whether it will be the last season of the series or not. Let’s overview the TV show in order to clarify its chances for renewal. Briefly, this teen sitcom describing a story of two best friends Karma and Amy, that passed themselves off as lesbians in order to be popular in their school.
First of all, it’s worth noting that the romantic comedy has received universal acclaim by the viewers and praise from critics, as well as won numerous nominations. The Pilot directed by Jamie Travis drew 1.17 million viewers, while whole first season kept ratings close to 1 million viewers per episode. Within the first half of the second season ratings were quite satisfactory. Meanwhile, yet to the middle of Season 2, we observe a gradual decline of ratings. So, the premiere of Season 2 drew over 1 million viewers, while a finale of the series has attracted 0.52 million viewers. In spite of this, MTV picked up “Faking It” for a third season, which debuted this March. Unfortunately, we can’t consider television ratings of a third season as impressive. The premiere of the season drew merely 0.28 million viewers, while the subsequent episodes (as of today) have attracted 0.40, 0.37, and 0.37 million viewers, respectively.
About Season 4
UPDATE (May 13, 2016): Today, MTV announced a sad news for all the fans of the single-camera romantic comedy “Faking It.” Unfortunately, “Faking It” is being cancelled by MTV without any chances for Season 4. As usual, the decision was made due to weak television ratings. It’s worth noting that the audience of the series during the recent episodes hasn’t been so impressive. The premiere of Season 3 drew merely 0.28 million viewers, and this indicator is too low for MTV.
“Faking It” preserves an immense base of fans and is keeping positive trend, taking into account that according to IMDB, the romantic series has a score of 7.7 out of 10 based on over 9,500 user votes, 25 reviews from viewers, and 3 reviews from critics. On TV.com, the teen sitcom has a score of 9 out of 10 based on over 100 votes. Actually, this is not just numbers. In order to make their decision concerning the renewal or cancellation of the series, each TV channel looks at the statistic, first of all. Although MTV has yet to announce their plans in regard to the renewal of “Faking It” or cancellation of the series, we tend to believe that the sitcom deserved a chance for a next season. And thus we hope that “Faking It” Season 4 would take place. However, the numbers illustrate worse trend, unfortunately. But, anyway, we would prefer to wait for the official announcement.
