‘Damien’ is being cancelled — No Season 2
“Damien” is a horror drama TV series that debuted on March 7, 2016, on A&E. This is a completely new contemporary look at the cult horror movie of 1970s. The series depicts the modern story of the Antichrist child, who grew up unaware of evil forces surrounding him. The TV series is created by Glen Mazzara, who also serves as executive producer.
Despite the fact that the series is inspired by the classic horror film “The Omen,” it has received mostly unfavorable reviews from critics, while the reaction of viewers could be described as mixed, in general. According to Metacritic, the horror series has a score of 37 out of 100 based on 17 reviews from critics, whereas the audience rated the series at 4.9 out of 10 based on 20 user ratings. Meanwhile, according to Rotten Tomatoes, the horror drama has an average score of 3.4 out of 10 and a 11% approval rating based on 18 reviews from critics, while the audience rated the horror series at 2 out of 5 with a 28% approval rating based on 30 votes. Though, on IMDB, “Damien” has a score of 7 out of 10 based on over 500 votes. The first episode directed by Shekhar Kapur drew 0.75 million viewers.

The storyline revolves around Damien Thorn, a 30-year-old protagonist, who was exactly this a horrible child from the British-American horror film “The Omen.” He works as a war photographer and seemingly already forgot about his past. But, the Antichrist, which is sitting inside him still asks the will. Thus, being already an adult Damien was forced to face his true identity.

UPDATE (May 20, 2016): Today, A&E has announced the cancellation of their horror series “Damien” after just one season. The decision has been made due to unfavorable reception by critics and viewers as well as thanks to weak ratings of the drama series. Unfortunately, “Damien” is being cancelled at A&E without any chances for season 2.
“Damien” Season 1 kicked off on March 7, 2016, on A&E, and its debut drew 0.75 million viewers. At the moment A&E hasn’t yet announced their plans in regard to the renewal or cancellation of their television adaptation. Taking into account mainly unfavorable reception by critics and viewers, most likely, “Damien” has a ghostly chance for Season 2.
