It’s worth noting that the second season of the romantic comedy-drama series has received a brilliant reception by critics and viewers, and, therefore, we suppose that The CW is about to renew “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” for a next season. However, on the other hand the series has lost many viewers. This was mainly due to a new time slot, taking into account that The CW has moved the series to Friday nights. Let’s take a look at some figures in order to find out why The CW made the decision on renewal.
Currently, according to IMDB, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” has a score of 7.6 out of 10 based on approx. 6,000 user votes, 40 reviews from viewers and 8 reviews from critics. At the same time, according to Rotten Tomatoes, the current season of the comedy-drama series has an average score of 9 out of 10 and a 100% approval rating based on 13 reviews from critics, while the viewers have rated the current season of the comedy series at 4.1/5 with a 78% approval rating based on 108 user votes. Meanwhile, according to Metacritic, the second season of the series has a score of 86 out of 100 based on 8 reviews from critics, whereas the viewers have rated the current season of “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” at 7.6 out of 10 based on 41 user ratings. We consider these figures very favourable.
The premiere episode of the second season has drawn 0.539 million viewers (-40.04% compared to last season’s premiere) with a 0.20 demo rating (-25.93%) among adults (18-49). For comparisons, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” Season 1 on The CW averaged a 0.30 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 0.870 million total viewers. These figures don’t seem to us favourable, but they still remain appropriate for the decision of renewal.
“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” focuses on the story of Rebecca Bunch, a well-educated Jewish young woman residing in an upscale apartment in Manhattan, which also gaining a partnership at a prestigious law firm, who is ready to lose it all, pursuing true love and happiness in a Los Angeles suburb. The TV series is created by Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna, who also serve as executive producers.
